The team combines more than one hundred years of experience in the energy sector and has an industrial as well as a financial background. Projects led by partners of the EIC team are known as milestones of the industry due to their goal-oriented and entrepreneurial approach. In change of structure of the energy sector the EIC Partners AG is a competent and reliable partner.

In February 2002 EIC Partners AG was founded by a group of former ABB executives – including Dominique Candrian, Peter Giller, Göran Lundberg, Andreas Schneller and Stephan Truffer. Since these days the team’s vision to support investors in their engagement in the energy sector has been persistently persued on a day-to-day basis.

In June 2003 EIC Partners AG launched the EIC Energy Infrastructure Fund, an open-ended investment fund, the first of its kind to emerge from a publicly listed investment company (EIC Electricity Investment Company). Since its inception the fund successfully invests on a global scale in the energy infrastructure sector.

In 2006 – five years prior to the announcement of the energy transition in Germany, the EIC Renewable Energy Fund was launched and successfully brought to the market. The fund provides a value proposition to invest in energy supply for the next generation: Renewable technologies, sustainable intermediaries and innovative applications to generate renewable energy.

In May 2008, the EIC Team moved from Feldmeilen to a new office located in the heart of Zurich. The new location does not only provide an efficient working environment, it also allows a closer exchange with customers, business partners and industry representatives. The new offices offer the framework for the firm’s popular Energy Talks, which are devoted to selected topics in the energy sector, held three to four times annually.

In April 2008, the EIC Partners AG receives the status of an authorized asset manager of collective investments and is supervised by the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority FINMA.. Investment process, organization and financial standings are annually examined with respect to the Federal Collective Investment Act (KAG).

Based on an in-depth analysis of global commodities prices, the company decided to launch a third fund in September 2013. The US Industrial Renaissance Fund invests in companies that benefit from comparative cost advantages in the global market, mainly derived from lower energy commodity prices in North America. The fund was managed in co-operation with GL Funds AG.

The roots in the ABB Financial Services Group facilitated the entry into the Private Equity business. Since 2005 the team is engaged in a constant dialogue with Actis, a private equity company focused on emerging markets. In co-operation with Blackstone, one of the largest private equity firms in the world, EIC Partners AG founded PQ Energy in 2012. The joint venture develops and invests in European power generation assets.

At the end of September 2017, EIC Partners AG sold the asset management mandate of the three funds EIC Energy Infrastructure Fund, EIC Renewable Energy Fund and Global New Mobility Fund to Geneva-based asset manager de Pury Pictet Turrettini & Cie. SA.

Since October 2017, EIC Partners AG has focused its business entirely on serving institutional investors in the areas of energy, infrastructure and sustainability.

In March 2018, Blackstone sold its interest in PQ Energy to a fund managed by Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners. EIC continues to act as the exclusive project developer of PQ Energy.

Since the end of June 2018, EIC is no longer an authorized asset manager of collective investment schemes. EIC has decided to abandon the related license following the sale of the asset management mandates in September 2017.
